Book Review: Anna and the French Kiss

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins.  Dutton, December 2, 2010.
Review copy from the library.

[from Goodreads]
Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris—until she meets Étienne St. Claire: perfect, Parisian (and English and American, which makes for a swoon-worthy accent), and utterly irresistible. The only problem is that he's taken, and Anna might be, too, if anything comes of her almost-relationship back home.
As winter melts into spring, will a year of romantic near-misses end with the French kiss Anna—and readers—have long awaited?
If you are in the mood for a good chick-ya lit, look no further than Anna and the French Kiss.  After reading dozens it seems like of dystopian novel after one another it was nice to read a nice contemporary romance novel.  Plus it helps that this one takes place in Paris.  I mean who would not want to spend some time in Paris.

Anna is your typical high school senior looking forward to her last year of high school.  But her dad decides that she is going to spend her senior year away from family and friends and study in Paris for the year.  When she meets Etienne and the start spending time together she discovers that being in Paris is not all that bad.  She starts to fall in love with him, but he is taken at the moment and spends most of the year going back and forth.

I loved Anna and well Etienne is just to die for, the accent, who doesn't love a British accent.  All of the other characters a fun, I enjoyed Anna's dad as well.  This is just a light, fun, and quick read that is sure to lighten up the worst of days.  This book didn't make me think about anything in a different way, but you know what if every book I read did that then I would be bored most of the time I was reading and that would just stink.  Perfect for those snowy afternoons when you just want to get lost in a novel, plus who doesn't want to feel like they are walking around Paris too!
