Audiobook Roundup: January

A new year, a new year of audiobook roundups.  Here is what I listened to this past month.

The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan, read by Jesse Bernstein.  Listening Library, 2008.
A great middle book.  The series keeps progressing nicely along and with this book we start to see them turn a little darker than the previous two.  But that is to be expected since Percy and the gang are getting older and are facing more dangerous adventures.  Bernstein does a great job voices the characters and I'm looking forward to finishing this series on audio.

Nightshade by Andrea Cremer, read by Rebecca Lowman.  Listening Library, 2010.
I'm glad to say that I listen to this one as opposed to reading it.  At least listening to it I was able tune out some of the love triangle stuff that started to drive me nuts.  I was not a big fan of Shay and I didn't really understand why Calla liked him.  The narration is well paced, and does a good job with the voices which helps keep the number of characters straight while listening.    Rebecca Lowman does an excellent job with the narration.  I have listened to a few books narrated by her and have enjoyed listening to them.  Does a nice job with the pacing of the book and a great job with the character voices.  I will probably want to listen to Wolfsbane but will be one of those books that I will listen when I have a chance not one that I will be dying to listen/read.

Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony by Eoin Colfer, read by Nathaniel Parker.  Listening Library, 2006.
Who doesn't love Artemis Fowl.  The boy genius is back again and this time he is facing another kid genius who has unlocked the secrets of the fairy world.  Another great listen and perfect for road trips with the kids.  I was kinda bummed to see that this is the last Artemis Fowl audio read by Nathaniel Parker, he has done an amazing job so far, I hope the next narrator can live up to the previous volumes.
